3:10pmAntony Vallyon -United Nations NZ National President

Overview of UN International Day of Peace

Mike Roberts – Auckland Inter-Faith Council President –

          affirms peace as the unity within religious diversity

Jimi Wallace - Soka Gakkai Director

 introduces ‘Creating a Culture for Peace:The Right to Human Security’  Exhibition

 

3:30pm – Auckland Peace City Council - Mayor for Peace – Dick Hubbard

Overview on value and significance of this declaration – Auckland SIGNING CEREMONY? (Waitakere Mayor Bob Harvey does it on 21st Sept)

 

3:40pm - Prime Minister Helen Clark or MP Phil Goff Minister for Disarmament

Formal honouring of 20th Anniversary of NZ Nuclear Free Zone legislation

plus recognition of NZ Peace Cities which reaffirm original local nuclear free zones

  (also opportunity to affirm international network of Parliamentarians for Peace)

 

3:50pm  - Formal cutting of the ribbon - Opening the SGI Peace Exhibition

 

3:55pm – Large multicultural interfaith choir performance (Mormon and Baha’i)

 

4:00pm – ‘Nine Readings for Peace’ from the interfaith youth community

Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Zoroastrian, Baha’i, Hindu, Buddhist, Indigenous, Humanist

 

4:20pm  Choir leads the gathering in singing ‘God of Nations’ NZ national anthem for all to join in.  Performance by SGI Brass band 

 

4:30pm – live music plays while people circulate, view Exhibition, partake of refreshments

 

5:00pm - Finish
